Theresa Dorcelus

Louisiana Attorney

Theresa Dorcelus is a Louisiana licensed attorney. She attended law school at The Southern University Law Center and obtained her Juris Doctor in 2020. She is from West Palm Beach, Florida and attended Florida Atlantic University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She has practiced in Baton Rouge City court as both a Public defender and prosecutor.

She worked at the LORI Center in Baton Rouge as their first Immigration Staff Attorney. She managed the on-site immigration team and helped create the initial set of policies and procedures, she consulted with Immigration clients for legal relief, managed a consultation case load, and was apart of the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA) Urgent fellowship. She attended regular Immigration meetings for AILEF, USCIS and the NPNA legal services collective while also creating relationships between LORI’s partners in the greater Baton Rouge area; they include but are not limited to the following: The East Baton Rouge Public Defender’s office, The Family Justice Center, Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, The Welcome Corps and Fathers on Mission. She also represented LORI in conferences such as The Giver’s Retreat, The Welcoming Interactive in 2024 and The Louisiana Immigration Pilot Program in Shreveport. She actively gives back to the community and enjoys traveling and in her free time.

Theresa is a member of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Federal bar Association and serves as a delegate on the Louisiana State Bar House of Delegates for the Nineteenth Judicial District and she is licensed Middle and Western District of Louisiana.
